12/15/06 – Bradshaw Medical, Inc. announced today that they have released their latest innovation to the orthopedic and spinal instrument community – the TLR series of torque limiting ratchets. This patent pending technology developed by Dr. Hua Gao, Vice President Research and Development combines the world’s most precise ratchet and torque-limiting device all in one instrument.
These specialized instruments eliminate the need for physicians to switch between instruments by providing the capability to ratchet and secure bone screws into place while simultaneously applying torque at customer specified preset requirements. Additional benefits include reducing the amount of space required within instrument trays, reducing surgeon fatigue by combining the unique “2-in-1” TLR mechanism, the ability to provide this technology to instrument handles in a wide variety of materials including silicone, anodized aluminum, and stainless steel. Further, it should be noted that ALL Bradshaw Medical Torque-Limiting devices have been extensively tested and certified to be within +/-5% accuracy after repeated autoclaves and mechanism actuations.
